Rodriguez Named D3football.com All-American

STERLING, VA - Christopher Newport University senior defensive back Rob Rodriguez earned his first accolade of the 2006 season Tuesday afternoon by being named Second Team All-American by d3football.com.

Rodriguez was the 2005 USA South Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-USA South choice. He was also named the conference's Second Team All-USA South Return Specialist. Rodriguez was also selected as a Second Team All-South Region selection by d3football.com. Rodriguez was also a First Team All-State choice in 2005.

He finished with 34 solo tackles and assisted on 16 others. He 2.5 tackles for a loss including one for a sack. He intercepted three passes and broke-up seven more. Rodriguez also set a new school record for blocked kicks in a season with six.
