Football Ranked 15th In USA TODAY Sports Weekly College Football Preview

MCLEAN, VA - Christopher Newport's football team appeared in another preseaon top 25 poll this week when USA TODAY Sports Weekly College Football Preview ranked the Captains 15th overall.

CNU opens the 2005 season Sat., Sept. 3 at home against Rowan (VA). Kick-off at POMOCO Stadium is set for 1 pm.

The Captains finished 2004 with a program best nine wins. CNU defeated previously unbeaten Salisbury in the first round of the NCAA Playoffs before falling to Washington & Jefferson in the second round.

Christopher Newport is also ranked in several other national top 25 polls. Lindy's ranks the Captains 22nd and D3football.com has CNU ranked 16th. The Captains were also selected to by the USA South coaches to finish first in the 2005 USA South Preseason Poll.
