Former CNU Football Player Named Head Coach

NEWPORT NEWS- Matt Lemn was a member of the first two Christopher Newport University football squads in 2001 and 2002. This week, he was named the head football coach at the new Warhill High School in Williamsburg.

The Williamsburg-James City County School Board approved the hire on Tuesday night. Lemn will teach at the school as well as guide the first football squad when it opens in the fall.

Lemn is a graduate of Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, where he played football. He continued his career at Division II Glenville State in West Virginia before coming to CNU in 2001.

From 2003-2005, Lemn has served as an assistant coach at Smithfield High School. This past season, he was co-offensive coordinator at Tallwood High School.

Lemn was originally a backup quarterback with the Captains and later moved to wide receiver during his two-year CNU career.
