Kihara Named New Golf Coach
NEWPORT NEWS - Christopher Newport University Director of Athletics C.J. Woollum today announced the hiring of TINA KIHARA as the school’s new golf coach.
Kihara, a native of Miami, Florida, will continue as the Head Teaching Golf Professional at Williamsburg National Golf Club, a position she has held since March.
“We are very excited to add Tina to our staff,” Woollum said. “Her experiences in the world of golf are immense and she will bring her outstanding teaching ability to our program.”
Kihara has more than twenty years of teaching and training experience, and has also designed, developed and implemented golf programs for juniors, men and women.
“My goal for CNU is to bring them to a championship level,” Kihara said. “With the support given by Williamsburg National Golf Club, the team has a tremendous place to call home. We have the perfect training facility, and that is where it all begins.”
Kihara becomes the ninth head coach in the 38-year history of the golf program. She takes over from Chris Jones, who served as the interim coach of the program last season.
