NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The Christopher Newport University Athletic Communications Office recently received five national awards for excellence in publications. The awards were presented by CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The CNU baseball media guide for 2006 was judged by the organization as best in the nation. Christopher Newport’s men’s basketball media guide and women’s basketball game program for 2005/2006 were both ranked second-best in the country.

The Lady Captains’ softball and volleyball media guide both also received recognition from CoSIDA, which made the presentations at its annual workshop in Nashville, Tennessee, on July 5 th.

Wayne Block, Assistant to the Athletic Director for Communications, Francis Tommasino, Director of Athletic Communications, Dave Gosselin, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications, and Beverly Waller, Student Assistant, were all recognized by the organization for their work on the five publications honored.
