CNU Unveils Athletic Department Logo

NEWPORT NEWS, VA- Christopher Newport University today unveiled a logo specifically designed for the athletic department. The logo will be used in a variety of ways, including in printed materials as well as on athletic apparel.

“We are very excited to begin a new year with a bold, vibrant athletic logo for our department,” C.J. Woollum, Director of Athletics, said. “Most athletic departments around the country have their own distinct logo, and we have been working on the creation of ours for several months.”

The logo was designed by John Kelly, Publications Manager at Christopher Newport. Kelly spent more than four months on the project and worked closely with Woollum and other administrators fine tuning the design. Kelly eventually went through more than 50 ideas to choose from.

“I’m proud of what we accomplished,” Kelly said. “I think the final product portrays the great strength of Christopher Newport and will work well for our outstanding athletic programs.”

The new logo will be prominently displayed, and has already been installed at center court of the Freeman Center, home of Christopher Newport men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball.
