Baseball Falls At Home To No. 21 Salisbury, 5-2
NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's baseball team fell 5-2 to 21st-ranked Salisbury at Captains Park Tuesday afternoon.
The Sea Gulls scored two in the third and sixth innings and added a single run in the fifth. The Captains responded with two runs in the eighth inning.
CNU managed just five hits in the game, two coming off the bat of Trae Bailey. He also scored and drove in a run. Joey Martin, Eric Cole, and Ryan McDougal each had one hit for the Captains.
Mark Bostwick led Salisbury going 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Andrew Jensen was 2-for-5 and Alex Vitale was 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Dan Oleynik picked up the win tossing six innings, allowing three hits while walking three and striking out six. Eric Willey struck out three in the ninth to pick up the save.
Salisbury improves to 4-1 on the year while the Captains fall to 6-2. CNU returns to action Friday as they host Southern Virginia with first pitch set for 2 pm.
