Baseball Drops Fifth In A Row To Salisbury, 7-0 NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's baseball team dropped its fifth straight Tuesday afternoon, 7-0, to visiting Salisbury. The Sea Gulls scored twice in the first and one in the second and added two more in the seventh off starter Kenny Moreland. Salisbury tacked on two more in the eighth off of Steven Mingee. Moreland went seven plus innings, allowed eight hits, five runs, three earned, walked three and struck out five. Mingee threw the eighth allowing two runs on two hits and walked two. Jason Brown pictched a scoreless ninth. Greg Lasinski went seven for the Sea Gulls, allowing just two hits, walked one and struck out eight. Tom Howell pitched two scoreless innings giving up one hit and striking out one. Greg Lemon went 2-for-3 with three runs scored for Salisbury, Jason Lively went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, David Sutton went 2-for-4 and BJ Kittle went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Mark Genovese, Charlie Hardie and Ricky Medina each had one hit for the Captains. Salisbury is now 4-1-1 while CNU falls to 2-5. The Captains return to action this Saturday as they open up USA South play at Methodist. The two teams will play a double header beginning at 12 pm. |
