Moreland Named USA South Pitcher Of The Week

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Christopher Newport baseball player Kenny Moreland was named USA South Baseball Pitcher of the Week, the conference announed Monday afternoon.

Moreland, a sophomore from Springfield, VA and reigning USA South Rookie Pitcher of the Year, tossed eight shutout innings allowing three hits while walking two and striking out 13 in the Captains 12-0 win over Averett.  He also threw one scoreless inning and struck out the side while allowing no hits in CNU's 3-2 loss to Salisbury.

Christopher Newport is 3-3 overall and the Captains return to action this afternoon as they travel to cross-water rival VA Wesleyan with first pitch set for 2 pm.
