Baseball Holds On For 8-7 Win At Piedmont

DEMOREST, GA - Christopher Newport's baseball team held off a late rally by Piedmont for an 8-7 win Friday afternoon.

CNU led 8-3 heading into the ninth inning and allowed four runs in the bottom of the final frame.

Kenny Moreland tossed seven strong innings to improve to 5-1 on the season. Ian Lenda pitched the final two to preserve the win.

Trae Bailey led the offensive attack with a three-run home run. Eric Cole, Zach Hutchison and Joey Martin each finished with two hits.

Christopher Newport is 13-3 on the year and concludes its trip to Georgia by taking on Emory at 11 am Saturday.
