Baseball Falls To Randolph-Macon, 7-1

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's baseball team dropped a 7-1 decision to Randolph-Macon at Captains Park Tuesday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets scored a run in the top of the first to take an early 1-0 lead. RMC then erupted for four runs in the top of the fourth and Christopher Newport pushed across its only run in bottom half of the inning as Randolph-Macon led 5-1.

RMC would add a single run in the fifth and eighth innings.

Ian Lenda suffered the loss going four innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and striking out four. Steven Millerleile threw one inning, allowing one run on two hits, Josh Brinkman tossed three innings, also allowing one run, and Cary Bruner threw the ninth striking out two.

Parker Neal was 2-for-3 with a RBI. Zach Hutchison, Eric Cole and Alex Owen each had one hit for Christopher Newport.

The Captains are now 15-5 overall. CNU returns to action this Saturday as they head to Greensboro to take on the Pride with first pitch set for 1 pm.
