Baseball Falls At Bridgewater, 12-4
BRIDGEWATER, VA - Christopher Newport's baseball team dropped a 12-4 non-conference decision on the road at Bridgewater Thursday afternoon, the second most runs the team has given up all year.
CNU allowed 17 runs to Shenandoah in the first game of a three-game series and then allowed 12 more to the Hornets in game three.
The Captains scored twice in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
Seven different players had one hit for CNU. Ryan McDougal was 1-for-4 with two RBI, John Corbin was 1-for-3 with one run driven in and Alex Owen finished 1-for-4 with a RBI.
Brandon Berry started and allowed five runs on seven hits in five innings while walking three and striking out one. Kevin Moreland tossed an inning and a third, allowed three runs on two hits, Cary Bruner went 1/3 of an inning, giving up one unearned run and Mike Giarrizzi finished the game out, going 1 1/3 innings, allowed three runs on four hits while striking out two.
CNU is now 10-9 overall and the Captains hit the road for a three-game series at Methodist with a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday.
