Baseball Falls At Bridgewater, 7-3

BRIDGEWATER, VA - Christopher Newport's baseball team lost 7-3 at Bridgewater Tuesday afternoon.

The Eagles scored twice in the first and once more in the third to take an early 3-0 lead off starter Chad Blanchard. The Captains responded with two in the top of the fourth but Bridgewater countered with two more in the bottom of the inning to lead 5-2.

BC would score two more in the eighth while Christopher Newport pushed across one run in the top of the ninth for the final margin.

Parker Neal led the Captains by going 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a run driven in. Eric Cole was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. CNU finished with a total of 11 hits and nine runners stranded.

Blanchard lasted 2 1/3 innings, allowed three runs on six hits, walked one and struck out two. Josh Hankins went 3 2/3 innings giving up two runs on five hits and striking out two. Steve Millerleile pitched the final two innings, also giving up two runs.

Christopher Newport falls to 19-10 on the year. The Captains return to action Thursday as they host Piedmont at 2 pm.
