Baseball Drops 6-1 Decision At NC Wesleyan

ROCKY MOUNT, NC - Christopher Newport's baseball team lost 6-1 at NC Wesleyan on Saturday in the final USA South regular season game.

The Bishops banged out 17 hits off of starter Ian Lenda who went the distance, allowed six runs, walked three and struck out one.

NC Wesleyan scored single runs in the third, fourth, sixth and eighth and pushed across two runs in the fifth.

Christopher Newport scored its only run in the sixth.

Mike Giarrizzi went 2-for-4 while Joey Martin, Trae Bailey, Ryan McDougal, Eric Cole and Justin Neumann each had one hit in the game.

NC Wesleyan improves to 23-13 overall and 7-5 in the USA South. The Captains fall to 19-13 overall and 6-6 in conference play.

Christopher Newport returns to action Thursday as the fifth seed in the USA South Tournament where they will play No. 3 Ferrum at 4:30 pm in Burlington, NC.
