Baseball Ranked 8th In South Region

ALLENTOWN, PA - Christopher Newport's baseball team fell to a tie for eighth place in this week's American Baseball Coaches Association's baseball poll.

The Captains finished the last two weeks with a record of 2-2. CNU captured a win over Shenandoah in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament before losing to Ferrum and NC Wesleyan. The Captians bounced back for a 2-0 win over sixth-ranked Mary Washington. Mike Cosby tossed a 2-hit shutout for the win.

CNU is 24-12 overall and return to action Saturday on the road at Salisbury. The Captains conclude the regular season May 1 at home as they host York (PA) in a doubleheader starting at 12 pm.
