Women's Cross Country Places Second, Men Finish Fifth At NYU Invitational

BRONX, NY - Christopher Newport's women's cross country team finished second while the men placed fifth at the 2005 NYU Invitational.

On the women's side, Concordia finished first with 28 points, CNU was second with 112, Washington & Lee was third with 121, Vassar finished fourth with 138 points and University of Findlay placed fifth with 143 points.

Emily Low paced the Lady Captains with a sixth place finish in a time of 20:11, Liz Bissell was ninth overall with a time of 20:23, Ashley Ezell finished 14th in 20:51, Megan Fogarty was 41st in 21:42 and Amanda Fitzhugh finished 42nd with a time of 21:46.

On the men's side, Concordia and NYU tied for first with 36 points, Washington & Lee was third with 120, Rochester Institute of Technology placed fourth with 135 and the Captains were fifth with 189 points.

David Barham paced CNU wth a 20th place finish in 28:21, Daniel Swale was 25th in 28:33, Nathaniel Huffman was 45th in 29:36, Tim Scott finished 48th with a time of 29:36 and David Woodson was 51st in 29:51.

CNU's cross team returns to action Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, PA.
