Women Finish Sixth, Men Place Ninth At NCAA South/Southeast Regionals

ATLANTA, VA - Christopher Newport's women's cross country team finished in sixth place while the men placed ninth at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Saturday afternoon.

On the women's side, Emory won with 38 points, followed by Trinity with 64, Washington & Lee and Mary Washington each finished with 106, Rhodes had 183 and CNU finished with 197 points.

Individually, Ashley Ezell led the Lady Captains with a 25th place finish in a time of 24:35. Amy Wampler placed 27th in 24:40, Amanda Fitzhugh was 40th in 25:25, Megan Roberts was 45th with a time of 25:45 and Kaitlyn Vincie finished 60th with a time of 26:26.

On the men's side, Centre placed first with 54 points followed by Rhodes with 63, Emory with 79, Mary Washington with 162 and McMurry was fifth with 184 points. CNU was ninth with 234 points.

Leading the way for the Captains was Nate Huffman with a 25th place finish in 27:04. Kyle Oakes placed 43rd with a time of 27:49, David Woodson was 47th in 27:59, Jon Bunker placed 50th in 28:03 and Tim Scott finished 69th with a time of 29:01.
