Field Hockey Falls 4-2 At Division I Davidson

DAVIDSON, NC - Christopher Newport's field hockey team opened 2007 with a 4-2 loss at Division I Davidson Saturday afternoon.

Davidson scored twice in the first 11 minutes to take a 2-0 lead. Diana Golden cut the lead in half in the 34th minute off a pass from Rhiannon Thomasson.

Davidson scored in the 47th minute to lead 3-1 but Ashley Traylor cut the lead to 3-2 in the 57th minute scoring off a rebound. Davidson added an insurance goal in 66th minute for the final margin.

CNU falls to 0-1 and returns to action Sunday as they take on Division II Catawba with start time set for 1 pm.
