Women's Lacrosse Selected As USA South Favorite
FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Christopher Newport's women's lacrosse team was picked to finish first in the 2007 USA South Preseason poll released Wednesday.
The Lady Captains, under the direction of Head Coach Kwame Lloyd, finished 11-8 overall and 5-1 in conference play last year. CNU reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. The Lady Captains reached postseason play by defeating Greensboro 10-9 in double overtime. CNU lost to Washington & Lee in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, 19-9.
Christopher Newport received six first place votes and 36 total points. Greensboro was the recipient of the final first place votes and totaled 31 points.
The Lady Captains kick off the 2007 season on Thursday, Feb. 22 when they travel to Salisbury with start time set for 3 pm.
