Lacrosse Picked To Win USA South
FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Christopher Newport's lacrosse team was picked to finish first in the 2006 USA South Preseason Lacrosse poll, voted on by the coaches and released Wednesday.
The Lady Captains have won or shared three regular season titles in the four years Head Coach Kwame Lloyd has been at the helm.
CNU finished 7-9 overall and 5-0 in the USA South in 2005.
The Lady Captains received four first place votes and 34 points. Greensboro was picked to finish second with 30 points and two first place votes and Shenandoah was selected to finish third with 29 points and one first place vote.
Rounding out the final four spots, Methodist was picked to finish fourth, followed by Averett, Ferrum and NC Wesleyan.
Christopher Newport opens the 2006 season on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at NC Wesleyan with start time set for 4 pm.
