Women's Lacrosse Rolls Past Ferrum, 18-3

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's women's lacrosse team won its USA South opener Saturday afternoon as the Lady Captains rolled past Ferrum, 18-3.

CNU scored 11 times in the opening half and added seven more goals in the second stanza.

Brooke Falck paced the Lady Captains with eight goals and one assists. Kristen Conques finished with three goals and one helper. Bonnie Hansen had two scores Katie Doherty had one goal and four assists. Lisa Thomson finished with one goal and two assists, Kristyn Hankins scored once, as did Holli Sawyer and Christine Mike added one goal and one assist. Shayna Sargent and Natalie Gilbert each had two assists.

Christopher Newport out-shot Ferrum 28-10. CNU's Theresa Sparks had four saves in goal and Gayle Robinson made one.

The Lady Captains are now 1-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. CNU returns to action Wednesday as they host NC Wesleyan at 4 pm.
