Women's Lacrosse Downs Guilford, 19-12

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's women's lacrosse team defeated Guilford 19-12 Sunday afternoon at Captains Field.

The Lady Captains led by as many as six in the first half, 9-3, with 8:04 to play and 11-6 at halftime.

In the second half, Christopher Newport increased its lead to as many as eight twice. The Quakers were no closer than four when they trailed 11-7 early in the second half.

Bonnie Hansen led the way for CNU with six goals. Kristen Conques added three goals and four assists while Kristyn Hankins contributed four goals and two helpers. Shayna Sargent added four scores while Natalie Gilbert had one goal and one assist. Brooke Falck had one goal and Christine Mike and Katie Doherty had one assist each.

The Lady Captains out-shot Guilford 36-29. Gayle Robinson picked up her second win of the year between the pipes. The freshman finished with 11 saves in net.

CNU improves to 6-3 overall. The Lady Captains return to action Saturday as they host Greensboro with start time set for 11 am.
