Women's Lacrosse Concludes Regular Season With 16-9 Win At Frostburg St., Sets Record For Most Wins In A Season

FROSTBURG, MD - Christopher Newport's women's lacrosse team had its final tune-up before the NCAA Tournament begins and defeated Frostburg St. 16-9 Saturday afternoon in the team's final regular season game.

The win also set a new program record for most wins in a season, eclipsing last year's mark by one.

The Lady Captains scored the first four goals of the game before the Bobcats found the back of the net. CNU led 9-5 at the half.

In the second half, Christopher Newport remained in control as they out-scored FSU, 7-4.

Kristen Conques, the program's all-time leader in goals scored, assists and points in a career, finished with six goals and four assists for the Lady Captains. Conques' six goals ties her with Wendy Wilson for the most goals in a season with 52.

Bonnie Hansen and Kristyn Hankins each scored three times and assisted on another.

Shayna Sargent contributed one goal and one assist, Katie Ross, Christine Mike and Brooke Falck each scored once. Katie Doherty finished with two assists and Lisa Thomason had one helper.

Christopher Newport out-shot the Bobcats, 35-26. Gayle Robinson played the entire game in goal and had 10 saves.

The Lady Captains improve to 12-4. CNU's next match will be in the NCAA Tournament. The team finds out who, where, and when they will play in another week.
