Barton Named To D3hoops.com Team Of The Week STERLING, VA - Christopher Newport men's basketball player Davon Barton was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, the site announced earlier this week. Barton, a freshman point guard from Hampton, VA, averaged 15.7 points, 8.3 assists, 3.3 steals and three rebounds for the Captains in a 3-0 week. The freshman point guard tallied 15 points and 13 assists in a 78-74 win over Ferrum. He finished with 22 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals in CNU's win over Averett and finished with 10 points and six assists in the Captains win over NC Wesleyan. Christopher Newport is the sixth-ranked team in the South Region and are 18-5 overall and 9-1 in the USA South. CNU has already clinched no worse than a tie for the USA South regular season title and the No. 1 seed in next week's USA South Conference Tournament. The Captains return to action Friday as they travel to Greensboro at 7:30 and finish the regular season Saturday at Methodist with tip set for 4 pm. |
