Four Men's Basketball Players Named All-State

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Four Christopher Newport men's basketball players were named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors All-State squad, the organization announced.

Sophomore guard Davon Barton and senior forward Korey Lewis were named Second Team All-State.

Barton, a Hampton, VA native, led the Captains in scoring, averaging 16.5 points per game. He also shot 47% from the field and 39% from behind the arc. Led the Captains and finished second in the nation in assists per game, averaging 8.3 per contest. Barton was a Second Team All-USA South choice this year and was also a Second Team All-State pick a year ago.

Lewis was second on the team in scoring, contributing 15.9 points per game. He finished the year shooting 55% from the floor and 71% from the free throw line. He was also named First Team All-USA South. Had a career-high 30 points in an overtime loss at Methodist.

Center Mark Blasingame and guard Donta Selden were both named Honorable Mention All-State.

Blasingame, a sophomore, finished the year averaging a double-double (10.6 points and 10.2 rebounds). He was second in the nation in blocks per game and first in the USA South, averaging 3.7 per contest. Blasingame shot 61% from the field and 75% from the line.

Selden, a senior from Norfolk, VA, was third on the team in scoring, averaging 15.5 points. He was a 46% shooter from the floor, dished out 106 assists and led the team in steals with 42. He was a Second Team All-Conference choice and was a Second Team All-State pick last year.
