Men's Basketball Wins Top Shot-Blocking Award For Second Straight Year

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's men's basketball team led the nation in blocked shots per game for the second consecutive season.

The Captains averaged 6.7 blocked shots per game and totaled 175 for the year. CNU was led by Mark Blasingame who finished second in the nation in blocks per game with 3.7 as he swatted 95 shots on the year. Ed Riley finished with 27 and Korey Lewis added 21 blocks.

Christopher Newport won the award last season as they averaged 6.9 per game in 2005-2006. Blasingame tied a school record with 100 blocks.
