Men's Basketball Picked To Finish Fourth In USA South Preseason Poll

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Christopher Newport's men's basketball team was selected to finish fourth in the 2005-2006 USA South preseason poll released Wednesday afternoon.

Methodist was picked to finish first and to defend its 2004-2005 USA South regular season and tournament championship. They received six first place votes and 36 total points. NC Wesleyan was chosen to finish second with 30 points, Averett third with one first place vote and 23 points and the Captains fourth with 22 points.

Shenandoah was picked fifth while Greensboro and Ferrum was chosen to finish in a tied for sixth place.

CNU finished 18-8 one year ago and 8-4 in the USA South. The Captains kick off the 2005-2006 season on Friday, Nov. 18 at home against Southern Virginia with tip-off set for 7 pm.
