Men's Lacrosse Upends Medaille, 14-9

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's men's lacrosse squad defeated Medaille 14-9 at Captains Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The Mavericks scored the first two goals of the game before the Captains finally got on the board with 9:36 to play in the opening half. CNU scored three unanswered to lead 3-2 before Medaille bounced back to take a 4-3 lead with 8:32 to play in the half.

The Captains would score three more goals before the halftime horn but Medaille countered with one of its own as CNU led 6-5 at the break.

The second half belonged to Christopher Newport as the Captains put up four goals in each of the third and fourth quarters, limiting the Mavericks to one in the third and three in the fourth.

Logan Keyser led the offensive attack for CNU with four goals and three assists. James Gannon finished with four goals and Ryan Merrell contributed three scores. Eric Huggins, Andy Mullinax and Michael Turk each finished with one goal.

Nick Cavallaro, Jackson Kibler and Mike Burns finished with one assist each.

Christopher Newport out-shot Medaille, 42-40. Ray Ralph finished with 11 saves.

The Mavericks fall to 0-2 on the year while CNU improves to 4-0. The Captains return to action Saturday as they travel to Eastern (PA) with start time set for 1 pm.
