Men's Lacrosse Falls At Catholic, 11-7
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Christopher Newport's men's lacrosse team dropped a tough 11-7 decision on the road at Catholic Tuesday afternoon.
The Cardinals scored the first four goals of the game and took a 4-0 lead after the first period of play. In the second, Christopher Newport scored two consecutive goals but Catholic responded with two of its own to take a 6-2 lead at halftime.
At the end of three, the Captains trailed by three, 8-5, and that would be as close as they would get. CUA scored three goals in the final period and allowed two for the final margin.
Mike Burns and Michael Turk led the way for CNU with two goals each. Chris Quigley finished with one goal and one assist. James Gannon and Nick Cavallaro each finished with one score. Buddy Powers contributed one assist.
Catholic out-shot Christopher Newport, 41-38. Ray Ralph had 15 saves in goal for CNU.
The Captains are now 4-4 on the year. CNU returns to action Saturday as they travel to Randolph-Macon with start time set for 1 pm.
