Randolph-Macon Comes From Behind To Defeat Men's Lacrosse, 12-11
ASHLAND, VA - Christopher Newport's men's lacrosse team let a two-goal lead slip away as Randolph-Macon scored three goals in the final five and a half minutes to defeat the Captains 12-11 Wednesday afternoon.
The Captains scored to go up 11-9 with 5:36 to play in the fourth quarter but the Yellow Jackets scored with 2:43 to play to cut the lead to one and tied the score at 11-11 with 1:47 remaining. Randolph-Macon scored the game-winner with 46 ticks to play in the game.
Christopher Newport led 5-2 at the half and 8-6 at the end of three quarters.
Mike Burns led the Captains with four goals and one assist. Nick Cavallaro, Ryan Merrell and Logan Keyser each contributed two goals. Chris Quigley had one goal and James Gannon finished with one assist.
RMC out-shot CNU, 39-26. Ray Ralph had 12 saves in goal for the Captains.
Christopher Newport falls to 4-5 on the year while the Yellow Jackets are now 6-4. The Captains return to action Saturday as they host Greensboro at 1 pm.
