Men's Lacrosse Finishes Inaugural Season With 21-6 Defeat At Cross-Water Rival VA Wesleyan

VA BEACH, VA - Christopher Newport's men's lacrosse team finished its first season with a 21-6 loss at cross-water rival VA Wesleyan Friday night.

The Marlins quickly took control of the game early as they scored eight time in the opening quarter and adding three more to take an 11-3 lead at halftime. In the second half, VA Wesleyan scored 10 times (5 in the third and fourth) while holding the Captains to three total second half scores.

Ryan Merrell had two goals and an assist for Christopher Newport. Logan Keyser and Nick Cavallaro each contributed one goal and one helper while Rob Duca and James Gannon each had one goal.

VA Wesleyan out-shot Christopher Newport 56-39. Ray Ralph had 17 saves in net.

Christopher Newport concludes its first season with a record of 4-9.
