Five Men's Soccer Players Named All-Region By D3kicks.com
CHICAGO, IL - Five Christopher Newport men's soccer players were named to the All-South Region team by d3kicks.com.
Senior midfielder Daniel Fogarty was named to the first team. Fogarty, the USA South's Player of the Year and a 1st Team All-USA South choice, finished second on the team in goals with 12 and was third in points with 30.
Defender Bryan Davis and forward Derek Shaw were both named to the second team.
Davis, one of the main anchors on the Captains defense, was a First Team All-USA South pick as a sophomore. Davis helped anchor a defense that allowed just 20 goals in 22 games. He was also named to the USA South's All-Tournament squad.
Shaw, a senior, set a new school record for assists in a season with 15. He also scored nine goals and finished second on the team in points with 33. Shaw was a First Team All-Conference choice and was named to the USA South's All-Tournament team.
Earning Third Team honors were goalkeeper Matt Tengs and defender Matt Page.
Tengs, a freshman, was the USA South's Rookie of the Year and a First Team All-USA South pick. He was 11-4-2 in goal with nine shutouts, 62 saves and had a 0.85 goals against average.
Page, a junior, was also a First Team All-USA South selection. He was also named to the USA South's All-Tournament team. He, with Davis, helped anchor the Captains defense.
