Men's Tennis Picked To Repeat As USA South Champions

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Christopher Newport's men's tennis squad was chosen to repeat as USA South Conference champions in the 2007 USA South Preseason poll released Wednesday.

The Captains, under the direction of Head Coach Rush Cole, finished 14-6 overall and 6-0 in conference play. CNU won both the regular season and conference tournament last season. It was the first outright championship won since the 1990 season and the first since they tied for the title in 1993.

CNU received five first place votes and 35 points. Methodist was picked to finish second with the other two first place votes and 32 points.

Christopher Newport kicks off its 2007 campaign Wednesday, Feb. 28 when they host St. Mary's on the CNU Courts at 2 pm.
