Men's Tennis Ousted By Methodist, 6-3, Glidewell Named All-Tournament

BURLINGTON, NC - Christopher Newport's men's tennis team was eliminated from the USA South Tournament by Methodist in a 6-3 loss Saturday morning and Eddie Glidewell was named All-Tournament.

In singles action, Chris Fletcher defeated John Mook (CNU) 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1; Eddie Glidewell (CNU) defeated Mike Layton 6-4, 6-0; John Braig (CNU) defeated Andrew Freeman 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3; David Hardy defeated Dylan Young 6-1, 4-6, 6-4; Louis Cisti defeated Steve Myers (CNU) 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 and Matthew Siegel defeated David Weiner (CNU) 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles competition, Glidewell and Mook (CNU) defeated Andrew and Chris Fletcher 8-5; Freeman and Hardy defeated Braig and Myers 8-2 at No. 2; and Layton and Siegel defeated Young and Weiner (CNU) 8-4.

Methodist improves to 11-8 while the Captains finish the year 14-9.
