Results From the Christopher Newport 3-Way Meet
NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's track team competed in the Christopher Newport 3-Way Meet on Saturday at Belk Track.
Megan Fogarty continued her outstanding season, setting a personal record in the 800-meters, six seconds faster than her previous best.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team consisting of Roland Hilliard, George Jones, Matt Griffis and Matt Weissenborn ran a 41.92, which is a provisional time for the NCAA Championships. This relay team will have a chance at next week's Penn Relays to improve their time. The women's team were one-one hundreth of a second from qualifying, finishing with a time of 48.89.
Two more of the talented squad's runners in freshmen Greg Jones and Gre Moulton will join Griffis and Weissenborn in the 4x400-meter relay.
Also in competition in next week's Penn Relays will be Fogarty and freshman Rachael Clark, who continues to dominate the women's shot put.
Kyle Oakes and Corey Scott both recorded personal bests in the 1,500-meter run. Kevin Boggs and Colandra Rollins, in the discus and shot put, respectively, turned in seasonal bests as well.
The team will return to action at next week's Penn Relays in Philadelphia, PA.
