Sheppard Named State Coach Of The Year, Two Others Earn All-State Honors

DANVILLE, VA - Christopher Newport volleyball head coach Lindsay Sheppard was named Virginia Sports Information Director's State Coach of the Year while two of her players earned Second Team All-State honors.

Sheppard, who just completed her fourth season, led the Lady Captains to a 32-6 season and another USA South Tournament Title. She has led her squads to three tournament titles and three trips to the NCAA Tournament. She was named VaSID's Co-Coach of the Year in 2004 as well the USA South's Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2005. She also became the first coach in program history to win 100 games as head coach.

Senior outside hitter Amber Bradshaw led the team in kills with 368 and was third in digs with 310. She was a First Team All-Conference choice in 2005. She finished her career with the most attack attempts, service aces, service attempts, and most games played and finishes second all-time in kills.

Sophomore setter Brittany Collins finished the year with 186 kills, 1,254 assists, 359 digs and 63 total blocks. She was a First Team All-Conference choice in 2005. She is currently second on the school's all-time assist list. She broke a school record in 2004 with 1,356 assists, eclipsing the old record of 1,337.
