Collins Adds Another Accolade, Becomes First Volleyball Player To Be Named An All-American

LEXINGTON, KY - Christopher Newport volleyball player Brittany Collins became the first CNU volleyball player to earn a spot on the All-Region team, this week, she became the first All-American in program history.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association released its All-American team recently and Collins was named Honorable Mention All-American.

Collins had one of the best years in her career this past season as she was named the USA South's Player of the Year and was also a First Team All-USA South choice. Last week, Collins was named First Team All-South Region by the AVCA. Collins already holds the season record for assists with 1,356 and is just 156 assists shy of tying Nina Richardson for the most assists in program history. She's also 47 assists behind Amber Bradshaw for the most service aces in school history.

Collins finished 2006 with team-highs in assists with 1,216 and aces with 108. She finished second in digs with 370 and totaled 46 blocks and finished with 114 kills and a .388 attack percentage.
