Three Women's Basketball Players Named All-Conference
FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Three Christopher Newport women's basketball players were named All-Conference, the USA South announced Wednesday.
Senior guard Nikki Rowland was named First Team All-USA South. Rowland leads the Lady Captains in scoring at 15 points per game. She also contributes 4.9 rebounds per outing, has dished out 77 assists and has 41 steals. She is also shooting 40% from the field and from behind the arc. Rowland was a Second Team All-Conference pick last year.
Candace Bryant was a Second Team All-USA South choice. Bryant leads the team in rebounding (8.9) and is second in scoring (13.1). She's shooting 49% from the floor and 66% from the free throw line. Bryant was named First Team All-USA South last season.
Alicia Bessey was named Honorable Mention All-Conference. Bessey is averaging 10.7 points and four rebounds. She's shooting 49% from the field, 38% from beyond the arc and 88% from the free throw line.
Staci Humphrey of Greensboro was named the conference's Player of the Year while Ferrum's Tonya Wright was named Rookie of the Year and Ferrum Head Coach Bryan Harvey was named Coach of the Year.
