Women's Basketball Picked To Finish Second In USA South Preseason Poll

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Christopher Newport's women's basketball team was picked to finish second in the 2006 USA South Women's Basketball Preseason Poll voted on by the coaches, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.

Greensboro, two-time defending USA South Tournament Champions, was picked to finish first. The Pride received 46 points and five first place votes. Christopher Newport, coming off a 17-9 season, 11-3 in the USA South, received three first place votes and 45 points.

The Lady Captains open the 2006-2007 season on Friday, November 17 at the St. Mary's (MD) Tournament. They will play William Paterson at 8 pm.
