Five Former CNU Women's Basketball Players Highlight 25th Anniversary Team FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Five former Christopher Newport women's basketball players were named to the USA South's 25th Anniversary squad, the conference announced Tuesday. The 2005-06 academic year marks the 25th anniversary of women's athletics in the USA South Athletic Conference. Beginning in the fall of the 1981-82 academic year, the USA South, then known as the Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, incorporated four women's sports (volleyball, women's basketball, softball and women's tennis) and awarded championships in those sports. In conjunction with the 25th anniversary, the conference is selecting Silver Anniversary teams in five women's sports (volleyball, women's soccer, women's basketball, softball and women's tennis). Today the Conference is pleased to announce the Silver Anniversary team for women's basketball. Karen Barefoot, who played from 1990-1994, was a three-time All-American, a three-time All-South selection, and twice named Conference Player of the Year. She was also a four-time First Team All-Conference choice and a three-time member of the conference's All-Tournament team. Became the first player, at any level, to score 2,000 points and dish out 1,000 assists. Pam Steward, a member of the CNU program from 1984-1987, was named to the All-American squad in 1985-86 and was an All-Region selection in the same season. She was named to the First Team All-Conference three times, and was named Conference Tournament MVP once. Scored 1,581 points with 373 rebounds, dished out 219 assists and 176 steals. Alice Streetman was a CNU women's basketball player from 1990-1995. She is a former Conference Player of the Year, three-time First Team All-Conference selection, and once named Conference Tournament MVP. She scored 1,652 points, recorded 496 rebounds, handed out 220 assists and had 292 steals. Also named to the 25th Anniversary squad was Misty Hart (1995-1998). She was a two-time All-American, twice named to the All-South Region team, and twice named Conference Player of the Year. She was named to the First Team All-Conference three times and was once named Conference tournament MVP. Finished with 1,326 in two-plus seasons, had 484 rebounds, dished out 300 assists and finished with 185 steals. The final CNU player named to the 25th Anniversary team is Tia Moore (1999-2003). She was a one-time member of the All-South squad, three-time Conference Player of the Year, four-time First Team All-Conference selection and twice named to the Conference All-Tournament Team. She was also named to the Conference's All-Academic team once. Finished with 1,585 points, 899 rebounds, 126 assists and 136 steals. Complete Team
