Women's Soccer Picked To Finish First In USA South Preseason Poll
FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Christopher Newport's women's soccer squad was selected by the coaches to finish first in the USA South preseason poll, the conference released Wednesday.
The Captains finished 13-6-1 and captured the USA South Tournament title in 2006. CNU has won four of the past five USA South regular season titles and won three straight tournament crowns. Christopher Newport received seven of 10 first place votes for 79 points.
The Monarchs received two first place votes and 73 points while Greensboro received the final first place vote and tied with Meredith with 60 points.
CNU kicks off the 2007 season on Saturday, Sept. 1 as they take on Guilford at 12 pm in the Johns Hopkins Tournament in Baltimore, MD.
