Women's Soccer Ranked 18th In NSCAA Preseason Poll MISSION, KS - Christopher Newport's women's soccer team is ranked 18th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Top 25 preseason poll. The Lady Captains finished 2004 ranked 17th after finishing the year 16-4-3 overall. CNU advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the program's history. They defeated Frostburg St. 2-1 in the second round, defeated Lynchburg 1-0 in the Sweet 16 and lost to eventual national champion Wheaton (IL), 4-0, in the Elite 8. Christopher Newport opens the 2005 season on Friday, Sept. 2 at Trinity (TX). Kick-off is set for 7 pm. |
