Four Women's Soccer Players Named To The 25th Anniversary USA South Women's Soccer Team FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Former CNU women's soccer players Carola Riegner, Elke Reisdorph, Laura McFerrin and Natalie Stallings were all named to the 25th Anniversary USA South Women's Soccer Team, the conference announced Thursday afternoon. The 2005-06 academic year marks the 25th anniversary of women's athletics in the USA South Athletic Conference. Beginning in the fall of the 1981-82 academic year, the USA South, then known as the Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, incorporated four women's sports (volleyball, women's basketball, softball and women's tennis) and awarded championships in those sports. In conjunction with the 25th anniversary, the conference is selecting Silver Anniversary teams in five women's sports (volleyball, women's soccer, women's basketball, softball and women's tennis). Today the Conference is pleased to announce the Silver Anniversary team for women's soccer. Riegner played at CNU from 2001-2004. She was a two-time All-Conference selection, she played in 2,643 minutes in goal, allowed 29 goals, made 128 saves and owns the school record for shutouts in a career with 11 and goals against average with a 0.99. Reisdorph was a member of the original CNU women's soccer team. She played from 1997 to 2000. She was a three-time All-Conference choice while in a Lady Captain uniform, she scored 10 goals and added 13 assists as a defender. She also led the 2000 team to the program's first conference tournament championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. McFerrin was also a member of the original soccer team at CNU. She too finished her career in 2000. McFerrin was named to the All-Conference team twice, once named to the All-South Region Team, once named All-State and is now second on the school's all-time list in goals scored with 29 and points in a career with 69. Stallings played just one season at CNU. She tied the school record for goals in a season with 16 and set a school record for points in a season with 36. She was named the 2002 Conference Player of the Year, she was a First Team All-Conference choice, became the first CNU women's soccer to earn All-American status, named First Team All-Region, another program first, named Virginia State Player of the Year and was a First Team All-State selection.
