Two Women's Soccer Players Earn All-Region Honors

MISSION, KS - Two Christopher Newport women's soccer players were named to the All-South Region Team, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced Thursday.

Sophomore midfielder Emily Renkin became the third player in CNU women's soccer program history to earn First Team All-South Region honors. The Midlothian, VA native set new school record for goals in a season with 17 and points in a season with 39. She was also a First Team All-USA South choice and was named the 2005 USA South Player of the Year.

Senior midfielder Ashleigh Dota was named to the Second Team All-Region. This was the fourth time in her career she was named to the All-Region team. She finished 2005 with eight goals and eight assists for 24 points. She is now the school's career leader in goals with 32, assists with 24 and points with 88. She a First Team All-USA South choice all four seasons at CNU.

The Lady Captains finished 2005 with a record of 14-5-1 overall and 6-0 in the USA South. CNU was crowned regular season and tournament champions in the USA South. The Lady Captains also advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season and third in the last six years.
