Women's Tennis Downs Division II Fayetteville St., 7-2

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Christopher Newport's women's tennis team defeated Division II Fayetteville St. by a score of 7-2 Monday afternoon.

The Lady Captains swept all three doubles matches.

Stefanie Leblang and Lindsey Pantele (CNU) defeated Ines Nieves and LeJacquelyn Artis 8-3 at No. 1; Brittany Stevens and Frannie Shivar (CNU) defeated Constance Lee and Arie Bennett, 8-1; Chandler Long and Kelly Clay (CNU) defeated Contessa Sanchez and Christina Ramos by a score of 8-3 at No. 3.

In singles action, Pantele (CNU) lost to Nieves in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 4-6; Leblang (CNU) loss to Lee 3-6, 6-3, 0-6 at No. 2; Shivar (CNU) defeated Artis 6-2, 6-1; Stevens (CNU) defeated Bennett 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 at No. 4; Liz Thedford (CNU) defeated Sanchez 6-3, 6-4; and Long (CNU) defeated Ramos 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.

The Lady Captains improve to 3-0 and return to action Wednesday when they host St. Mary's (MD) on the CNU Courts at 2 pm.
