Women's Tennis Sweeps Peace

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's women's tennis squad remained undefeated on the year with a 9-0 win over Peace Sunday afternoon on the CNU Courts.

In doubles action, Lindsey Pantele and Stefanie Leblang (CNU) defeated Liza Bridgers and Anna Jane Hesmer 8-1 at No. 1; Frannie Shivar and Brittany Stevens (CNU) defeated Ellen Smith and Michelle Atkinson 8-1; Chandler Long and Kelly Clay (CNU) defeated Kristin Robinson and Lucy Mauney 8-2 at No. 3.

In singles play, Pantele (CNU) defeated Bridgers 6-0, 6-0; Leblang (CNU) defeated Hesmer 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2; Shivar (CNU) defeated Smith 6-0, 6-0; Stevens (CNU) defeated Atkinson 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4; Liz Thedford (CNU) defeated Robinson 6-0, 6-2; Long (CNU) defeated Mauney 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.

The Lady Captains improve to 16-0 overall and 5-0 in the USA South. Peace drops to 6-9 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

Christopher Newport returns to action Friday as they travel to conference rival Greensboro with start time set for 1 pm.
