Women's Tennis Ranked 13th, Pantele 33rd, Pantele And Leblang 20th
SKILLMAN, NJ - Christopher Newport's women's tennis team is currently ranked 13th in the Atlantic South while Lindsey Pantele is 33rd in singles and Pantele and Stefanie Leblang are 20th in doubles, the ITA announced Tuesday.
The Lady Captains were ranked 12th in the March rankings and slid a spot in the current rankings. CNU finished the year 21-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play. Christopher Newport fell 5-3 to Methodist for the team's only loss of the year in the championship match of the USA South Tournament. The team became just the second program in school history to finish the regular season with an undefeated record.
Pantele, who had a great freshman campaign, backed up her solid play in her second season as she finished 18-3 at No. 1 and finished the year defeating two regionally ranked opponents to conclude the year. Both of the final two opponents she defeated were ranked ahead of her. She was also ranked 46th in the March rankings.
Pantele and Leblang finished the year a perfect 21-0 at No. 1 doubles. The duo was ranked 35th in the March rankings and jumped up 15 spots in this month's rankings.
