LACROSSE FALLS TO METHODIST 11-10
NEWPORT NEWS, VA – CNU’s lacrosse team out scored Methodist in the second half 6-4 but could not hold on to a late lead as they lost to the Lady Monarchs 11-10 Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Captains trailed 7-4 at halftime and took the lead 10-9 with 5:21 left in the game. Methodist would score twice in the final four minutes for the win.
Elaine Kirby, Celia Mallory, Kristyn Hankins and Kristen Conques led the Lady Captains with two goals each. Sally Allstadt and Amy Zucharo finished with one goal apiece. Lori Bickham led CNU with three assists while Kirby finished with one.
The Lady Captains out shot MC 39-20. Elizabeth Werbiskis made five saves in goal.
CNU is now 3-7 overall and 2-1 in the USA South.
The Lady Captains return to action this Tuesday as they travel to cross-water rival VA Wesleyan with start time set for 7 pm.
