FINAL NCAA TUNE-UP FOR TRACK YIELDS SIX NEW MARKS

  LYNCHBURG, Va. – The men’s track team had five new NCAA qualifying standards set and the women had one at the Liberty University Twi-Light Meet Thursday, the last tune-up for the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships.

  Damon Talley got an automatic qualifier and set a new school record in the triple jump, leaping 50-0. He also improved his provisional qualifying mark in the long jump to 23-9.

  Meanwhile Steven Roberts reached an automatic qualifying level in the triple jump at 48-8 ¾ and Matt Mertz earned a provisional at 46-4 ¾.

  The men’s 1600-meter relay team improved is provisional mark to 3:16.17.

  For the women, Marilyn Cochran earned a provisional in the long jump at 18-4 ¾.

  The NCAA Championships take place in Decatur, Ill., May 24-26.
