TAYLOR EARNS FOUR NCAA AUTOMATIC QUALIFIERS, MEN GETS TWO AUTOMATICS,
ONE PROVISIONAL AT EAST COAST INV.
RICJHMOND, Va. - Senior Casey Taylor (Prospect, Va., Prince
Edwards Co. H.S.) picked up where she left off last year, earning four
automatic qualifying performances to the NCAA Indoor National Championships
and the East Coast Invitational in Richmond Saturday.
Taylor won four events, the long jump (19-0), the 55-meter hurdles
(8.34), the triple jump (39-6 1/2 ) and the high jump (5-7) all with qualifying
performances.
Meanwhile the CNU men had two automatics and one provisional
for the NCAA meet. Senior Tony Smith (Chesapeake, Va., Western Branch H.S.)
had an automatic in the 55-meter hurdles in 7.51 and sophomore Stephen
Roberts produced an automatic in the triple jump at 48-9 3/4. Junior Greg
Boothe (Chesapeake, Va., Churchland H.S.) had a provisional NCAA qualifier
in the 55 meters with a time of 6.46.
